They are rated based on how well a fund is performing. The rating is based on factors such as:<\/p><ul><li>The achieved return<\/li><li>The costs of the fund<\/li><li>The risks associated with the fund<\/li><li>Stars are awarded based on these factors.<\/li><\/ul><p>Where 5 stars is the best score and 0 stars is the worst.<\/p><h3><strong>Funds and the Morningstar Analyst Rating<\/strong><\/h3><p>In addition to the Morningstar rating, there is also the Morningstar Analyst Rating. This rating is determined by expert opinions.
